Flavour of our house
A flavour of the house

With five good
rooms, Monu Guest house is placed at the epicentre of Varanasi. We are
right in the middle of Old Varanasi. Rooms and bathrooms are bigger comparing
to other places, and beds are soft, cosy and smooth which are very comfortable
for your back and to chill out, and even the walls and the whole atmosphere of
the house is very colourful, sweet and happy. It is a stone’s throw from the
great Kashi Vishwanath Golden Temple, 50 m, also close to the Aurangzeb mosque,
70m, which was built on the site of the original Vishwanath
temple.
Shiva, Vishwanath, means Lord of the Universe

KashiVishwanathTemple, which in its present shape was built in 1780 by Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar of Indore, is located on the banks of the Ganges. Just down the street, Monu Family Paying Guest House was built at this time when the depredations of Aurangzeb came to an end.
Restructured and decorated from top to bottom in 2008, with western
loos and h/c showers in 3 rooms, 2 in the double rooms, 1 in the family suit.
They all are attached to these rooms.
We have one common bathroom for 2 single rooms with h/c showers, Indian loo.
With back-up
electricity, inverter, the fans should not go off in the middle of the night
when the city electrics fizzle. But sometimes problems of the city we cannot
overcome.
Friendly, safe, and
secure, it is run by C. Madhav Rao (Madho), his wife Smt. Indra Rao (Indu) and
son Shwetank Rao (Monu).

Monu, a recent graduate of Benares Hindu University and a fluent English speaker, is a tabla player. He plays at concerts, teaches Hindi and Sanskrit.
He offers music lessons for Sitar, Tabla, Flute, Vocal, Dance and all other Indian Classical Music.
Take tea in on the roof in the evening as the sun sets, or sit there in the morning about 10am before it gets too hot and get some sunshine.
